Our Staff

We are excited to have a highly trained staff at The Weekday School at MVUMC! All of our lead teachers have Bachelor's Degrees, most holding a degree in education.
Kasey Skeen

Ms. Kasey is entering her 3rd year at The Weekday School at MVUMC.  Previously a teacher in both the Zebras and Bees classrooms, she has recently transitioned to the role of Director.  She holds a Masters of Education from Boston University and previously taught English as a Second Language in Boston. When not at school, Ms. Kasey enjoys spending outdoor time in Alexandria with her husband and two boys, ages 7 and 3.  She also loves reading and discovering new children's books.

Crystal Syphrit

Ms. Crystal has been working with The Weekday School for 5 years, first as a sub and now as an assistant teacher. She also had 2 kids graduate from the program!  She has an AS degree in Information Technology and is a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She has two children (ages 5 and 7) who keep her on her toes.  She likes to cross stitch and upcycle furniture whenever time allows.

Katharine Agnini

Ms. Katharine has been a parent at MVWS for the past 5 years- with one graduate and 2 currently enrolled! She is excited to join the MVWS family as a teacher this year!  She holds a Masters of Education from the University of Georgia and was a classroom teacher for 10 years before taking time off to be with her kids.  She is excited to get back in the classroom again!  When she is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids, running, reading, and getting in beach trips whenever she can!

Jasmine Rasmussen

Ms. Jasmine has been part of the MVWS family since 2009.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Florida State University and is a Board-Certified Music Therapist. In her classes the children have fun learning through music, movement, and play. Ms. Jasmine is excited to provide music to each class once a week as well as assist Ms. Kasey in the office.  When she is not teaching, she enjoys gardening, walking her dog, and biking with her two boys.

Lisa Cipolla

Ms. Lisa is a lifelong resident of Alexandria. She has worked with preschool children since 2009. She is a mother of 2, ages 13 and 18.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and being a band mom. Ms. Lisa genuinely enjoys working with preschoolers and is grateful for the opportunity to learn with your children.

Ryssa Nix

Ms. Ryssa is joining MVWS as an assistant teacher after working as a substitute teacher last year. She holds a BS in Economics and previously worked for a dossier service in academia before becoming a stay at home mom. When not spending family time with her husband and 4-year-old son, she likes to read, bake, play video games, and watch comedies.

Alahna Kellogg

Ms. Alahna is joining MVWS this year in the Bees classroom.  She has a nursing background as a medical assistant and LPN.  She was the owner of a home daycare for 6 years and is the mother to four amazing children.  Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area, she doesn't like snow.  In her spare time, she loves to read and sleep!

Amy Miles

Ms. Amy completed a degree in business management, but quickly discovered her love for teaching. Before joining MVWS, she was a primary assistant in a Montessori classroom for four years. She enjoys spending time with her husband, three daughters and the dog, cat, guinea pigs, lizard, etc! She loves reading, animals, chocolate, and the color green, and hates emptying the dishwasher!

Neil Sullivan

Mr. Neil is joining MVWS for his second school year. He holds a BA in French & TESOL from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. Neil has worked in elementary schools in the UK, US, France and Canada. In his previous job, he was an Assistant Teacher for the Performing Arts program at a DC public elementary school.  He has lived in Alexandria for 7 years, and most of his time is spent being a stay-at-home dad to sons Rafy and Gio, and husband to Lauren. He enjoys seeing new places, cooking, playing music, and sitting on the back porch!

Kelly Trott

Ms. Kelly has been substitute teaching at MVWS for 3 years and considers teaching a truly rewarding experience.  She holds a BA in Communications and a minor In Psychology from JMU and is a Certified Nutrition and Health Coach. In addition to many years of babysitting she worked for two summers as a Camp Counselor with the ARC of NJ, where she taught children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and son (both Weekday School alumni!) and performing local shows with her Improv group The Auxiliary.

Aimee Litwiller

Ms. Aimee is a 20-year resident of Alexandria.  She has over 15 years of experience working at schools in Alexandria and Fairfax.  She and her husband have two children in 6th and 3rd grade.  Before she started a family, Ms. Aimee performed with several ballet companies and also taught dance to children.  In her spare time she enjoys visiting gardens and art galleries.  She is very excited to be joining the Weekday School community.
